Keith,
One of the advantages of using a Richmond is they can provide you with a
bazillion (more or less) ratios, allowing you to fine tune it to your
RPM range. I am running a ZF, which means I am stuck with their "stock"
ratios and have to change rear gears to move the power band. Like you, I
chose the 6 speed 'cause I also want to run it on the shorter lakes
courses and can get better acceleration on a short course. Having said
all that I think I will junk the ZF after Muroc and go to a richmond 5
speed with .81 OD for B'ville. Richmonds will probably not stand up to
your blown motor, they will only stand up to 550 lbs/ft torque. I am
running my ZF over the line also, but accelleration on salt doesn't
stress drive trains like pavement. However, in 1998 Kugel blew his
Jerico with an "easy" shift into 3rd, and that was with the wimpy 950
hp, 296 mph motor! 
Just some thoughts on Richmonds.........
