  Just look at the number of records that some ECTA members hold and figure
for every three they spent a minimum of $175.  This is the way I'll provide
"Save the Track" money for the Association in the future.  I'd sure rather
set new records than just donate cash, or end up paying higher entry fees.
Besides, some of the "soft" records that I have set in tougher car classes
(e.g. running as a E/GCC in E/GALT trim) have given others an opportunity to
get additional points for breaking an existing record.  It all comes out in
the wash. 
  I do like Mayf's concept of a points system that gives everyone credit for
trying.  There will always be those who enjoy playing the points game all
season, but this system may level the field a bit.
