i guess my last email didnt make it - basically what it said was that if
you blindly " double " the jet size and fill the tank with methanol you
will probably find yourself in big trouble. if you took, say, a decent
carbureted gasoline smallblock you could switch it over to methanol quite
easily, you would have to install an alchohol compatable carb since the
idle circuits, accelerator pumps, etc. must be sized for methanol,
(likewise fuel injection would need an alcohol sized barrel valve, main and
bypass jets, nozzles, pump, etc.) install a fuel pump, (mech or elec) to
supply more fuel, ensuring that the internals are compatable with alcohol,
make sure you have a high flow fuel line system, tweak the ignition timing
and plug heat range for best results, and voila, keep an eye on you fuel
tank level - it goes away real quick - your milage may vary. youll
probably see a small increase in power, cooler engine temps (assuming youre
not too lean) , and not worrying about detonation. it is not a mystery.
like dahlgren said, if you go messing around with nitrous and stuff there
are more factors to consider. doug @ black radon
