I agree entirely with Kees. Further, I did install the AH Spares front disc=
kit=C2=A0on my former BN1, which used the big brake calipers from a late B=
J8. The results were more than worth the cost and effort. Nice being able t=
o stop=E2=80=94and the rear drums=C2=A0on Healeys, including the thinner on=
es on the early 100s, work fine as they do far less work than the front bra=
kes. But this was roughly six years ago, so don=E2=80=99t know whether the =
current kit is as good.=C2=A0

Your Austin-Healey is not a modern car and never will be again and so hand=

make some 'tweaks' to improve its drive-ability, since it won't end up a=

museum piece anyway? In particular: the brakes suck. They're all=20
new/refurbished, and stop well enough for drums, but pull badly and no=20
amount of adjustment makes any difference (my dad's '65 Mustang, with=20
all drums, was even worse, and I advised the guy who bought it to=20
install front disks since it was to be his teenage daughter's car).=20
'Spares also hit me with an ad for an upgraded Panhard kit, which=20
supposedly improves handling--though, besides the brakes I have no=20
issues with its handling--but, why not (since I'll be shipping across=20
The Pond anyway)?

Anyway, anyone got experience with either of these mods, esp. the brake=20
kit (the rotors look a little thin compared to my BJ8's)? FWIW, I'll be=20
72 this year but can still drive well enough to wrangle a 480HP=20
Mustang--my wife might disagree--and I'm considering re-upping my pilot=20
medical (which, if I'm successful, should tell me something about my=20
fitness).
