I like the (dried out/split) diaphragms theory. I don=E2=80=99t know =
what your spray shops do but ours, UK, almost bake the new paint onto =
the car. ie the car sits in a hot and very dry environment.

We bought a BJ8 over to France from North Virginia. The car =
hadn=E2=80=99t run for a while, quite a while at a guess. We took the =
train down to the port and got to the car. First off, it was an absolute =
pig to start and, when it did finally run after a jump start from an =
electric fork lift(!), it wouldn=E2=80=99t keep going without a lot of =
throttle. Rush hour in Paris was a nightmare but we got it home. Next =
day, we switched on the ignition and fuel was absolutely peeing out of =
the carbs. The run from port to garage seemed to have exacerbated the =
issue. Anyhow, two new diaphragms sorted it.

Hi Greg, I regularly get over 20 mpg in my BT7, so something is wrong. =
If what you are saying that you only got 98 miles on full tank of gas, =
something is seriously amiss. Is it possible that when your car was in =
the shop some fuel was drained from the tank for some reason?

=20

Evening,

=20

Just got my '65 BJ8 back from an extended stay at a body/paint shop. Old =
English white with a red interior. It looks great.

=20

Problem is, I ran out gas. My trip Odo said 98 miles, I can usually go =
around 150 and, talking to a friend, he said he can go 200 miles on a =
tank.

=20

The car seems to run fine, not missing, no black smoke.

=20

Any ideas why my milage dropped 30% and should I be getting 200 miles on =
a fill-up?

=20

I don't smell gas in the garage, but I will be checking for leaks in the =
morning.=20
