Harold--

I assume you were not the person who applied the AL pieces and do not know
the name of the adhesive. However it would be helpful if you could
determine the brand as knowing that might lead you to a specific product
that will in some way break the bond or attack the sealant's integrity,
etc. Perhaps a PO might have this information.

In my boating days I learned the hard way to not use an *adhesive* sealant
when there was no need for anything but a sealant. 3M makes superior stuff
but it took me a while to learn when to use 101 and when to use 5200.
Luckily they also made a solvent that would break the bond chemically in a
non-destructive manner and perhaps you can find such a product.

Best--Michael Oritt
