I eliminated leaks along the top of the windscreen on my 100 as follows:
I purchased from Moss the chrome rod used on certain MGB's and Spridgets
upon which the rear view mirror was mounted.
I drilled a 3/16" hole in the scuttle just in front of where the stock rear
view mirror mounts.
I fabricated a small bracket, threaded the top end of the rod into it
and attached
it to the inside of the top bow.
I passed the bottom end of the rod through the hole in the scuttle and by
reaching under the dash and using a fender washer and wing nut I created
tension on the rod which clamps the top bow to the windshield and
eliminates the air gap/water leak.
When using my hardtop I remove the stock rear view mirror and use the
mirror fitted on the B's/Spridgets. The mirror can be slid up the rod
which gives better vision to the rear and eliminates vibration transmitted
through the scuttle. The mirror's higher position also lessens the amount
of glare from headlights of following cars.
In practice the rod becomes almost invisible because the eye is focused in
the distance. The installation sounds more complicated than it actually is
and--provided you are willing to drill the small hole in the scuttle--it is
an effective and easy way of eliminating leaks along the top of the
windshield.
