       Agreed with Michael about The Cloisters=E2=80=94a marvelous collecti=
on of medieval architecture (went there several times in my college years).
       For something more modern, I suggest the Ellis Island Immigration/St=
atue of Liberty museums, and the Lower East Side Tenement Museum (a Nationa=
l Historic Site), to see what it was like to come to America a century ago.
