AlanI don't have a definitive answer but checked my gaskets in the shop and=
 they are copper on both sides (not solid copper). Did read online that if =
the gasket is smooth (metal) on one side and composite on the other that th=
e composite side goes down (towards the tailpipe).=C2=A0Perry
