Hank
One trick that sometimes works is to have something that fits fairly
closely in the bore and long enough say 5" but this is not important. Then
half fill the hole with oil. Insert the rod and then give it a good thump
with a hammer. The oil does not compress but transfers the high pressure
behind the old bushing and sometimes forces it out. It might take a few
goes before the bush is out.
