The steering wheels are some type of plastic molded over a steel hoop. In t=
he process of my Healeys=E2=80=99 restoration, I kept my original cracked s=
teering wheel stored in a bag. When I removed it to assess how to restore i=
t, the outer hoop literally disintegrated and turned to dust in my hands. M=
y opinion is a cracked steering wheel, even if repaired, is dangerous becau=
se the interior steel hoop can continue to corrode and fall apart at any ti=
me.

While we are on the subject of repairing the Trafficator and Bakelite, for =
forty years my steering wheel has been wrapped in a leather cover which hid=
es the cracked and missing pieces of the plastic looking material where the=
round wheel meats the spokes.=C2=A0 I seem to remember there is a process =
to repair and/or fill in the voids.=C2=A0 Does anyone on this list have a s=
uggestion?
