Interesting, although I'd say a similar car today would actually sell for
around $45k. I did the same comparison with the bugeye's price of $1795
and in today's money it would be $15k. I don't know what car you could buy
for that today and would guess a modern day bugeye would be around
$23k-$25k. This just probably shows that the cost of cars as a percentage
of income has increased and we pay more up front for increased safety,
mileage, lower emissions and increased longevity.
