Further comments.

Your number 2/ and 3/ below were the same.

I have found that some Gold Seal BMC gearboxes had the old gear set 
fitted. I believe that it was decided that the so called improved gears 
were not much better than the originals.

The part number stamped on the laygear is not the same as the finished 
item part number as found in the parts list. The numbers in square 
brackets below are those stamped on the laygear

DESCRIPTION             OLD PART                NEW PART

Laygear with bushes     1B 3481 [1B 3474],      1B 3693 [1B 3694]
