Mystery Part

In my enthusiasm for originality, I noted a part in the moss catalogue that
I did not have so I ordered it...a fool and his money are easily separated!



Now that I have it, I am not sure where it goes.



Moss part number 326-480 :   "Ring, Gear lever boot"



Found on page 54 of the April 2006 AH Moss Catalogue (reference number 105).



It is a chrome plated ring about the size of a nickel chrome plated.



Does it go inside the rubber boot??



Am I a fool??
