i am getting ready to track down a knocking sound that come from the front of
my engine, also.  i suspect the crankshaft pulley is loose, even though there
is no visible movement.  it only occurs when the engine is warm and when it is
idling.  i will check out whatever listers have mentioned first, but i have a
feeling that i will be taking off the pulley.  healeymanjim
