Ned,
The clearest explanation of setting up and tuning the HD8 carbs is right in
the factory workshop manual. The Hanes or Bentley manuals include the same
material.
As long as the carbs are clean inside and out, and everything is in good
condition, they are a very simple carburettor to adjust.
There's no magic involved. A flat bladed screwdriver, a good ear and a
length of tubing are all that's needed.
