Richard,
Don't quite know what you mean by the synchros dragging. As you are
shifting? Related to this, I had my center-shift Healey gearbox rebuiklt
recently. Got new synchro rings and crosshatched the working (conical)
surfaces with a Dremel tool, to give them a little more "bite". The result
is the best-shifting Healey 'box ever! The synchros are unbeatable!
