No doubt you're thinking of Isadora Duncan, the famous American dancer, who
died as a result of injuries when her scarf tangled in the wheels of the
Bugatti in which she was riding. This happened in France in 1927.

I recall this topic came up a number of months ago and the answer appeared to
be an accident where a movie star (don't recall who) had her scarf get caught
in the ears and was killed. Maybe someone on the list has more details than
this.
