I probably should have taken the starter out before consulting the list; I
appreciate all of the input from everyone. Upon removing the starter, I found
that the heavy spring, shaft nut and most of the cotter pin were left behind
inside of the cup. The shaft nut threads are pretty much gone, the threads on
the starter shaft are ok (after a little fine file work). This thread is left
hand, very fine pitch (27? tpi) and an odd diameter (.592). So, now I am
searching for a reasonably priced shaft nut and another battery cut out switch
(original fell apart). Any suggestions on sources?
