Based on personal experience, some suggestions on buying your compressor:

Research the basics on compressors at
_http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/tools/tools.htm_
(http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/tools/tools.htm)
as well as look for reconditioned Campbell Hausfeld units on their web page
                  _http://www.chpower.com/_ (http://www.chpower.com/)

I purchased a belt driven 6 HP reconditioned unit from them several years
ago and have never had a problem. Once you start using air tools you wonder
why you didn't start sooner. I think the units at Sears are over priced, even
when on sale, compared to what you get through CH direct. Units sold by Home
Depot are made specifically for them so you cannot compare features and
prices to those sold elsewhere. Additionally, _http://www.tptools.com_
(http://www.tptools.com) has a section under technical/tips that explains the
principles on using compressors as well as an excellent pipeline layout
diagram.
