Would there be any interest in =E2=80=9CMaxpeedingrods=E2=80=9D 4340 forged=
connecting rods
for the small journal Spitfire engines? (1147 and 1296)
These forged rods from China have been available for the TR3/4, TR6, GT6
and large journal Spitfire engines for a number of years, but up to this
point, they have not been available for the small journal engines.
I have used them in many of our street engine builds, closely checking
every rod before installation. I usually find the rods are weight matched
within 1 gram, the big ends measure in the middle of the tolerance range,
and the small ends require just a slight hone for proper pin fit. For
street and budget racing builds, these are a great alternative to reworking
stock rods.
I=E2=80=99ve discussed having a run of these made with the people at Maxpee=
ding, I
would need to order a minimum of 10 sets: If there is interest, I could
move forward with this, then offer them for sale for $575/set plus shipping
from Ohio.
These will be made from forged 4340 steel, and are a H-beam design with
5/16=E2=80=9D ARP 2000 bolts included.
If you are interested in a small journal version, please send me a message.
