Thanks everyone for providing good info. I can confirm that while we
don't have a published calendar yet, the plans for 2025 are as described
by several.
We have no noise limits to deal with folks, the practice day the Tuesday
preceding the event is an open exhaust day, unmuffled cars are fine all
weekend except Sunday. Those participating in the main event over Labor
Day weekend will have been previously assigned a paddock space, and you
have the option to drop your rig in your paddock space after you
complete your track time on Tuesday. The caveat is you will not be
allowed to camp at the track on Tuesday or Wednesday night, so if you
are planning on staying at the track in your rig, you need to make
alternate plans for those nights. Regular load in is on Thursday, and
you are free to stay at the track from Thursday through Sunday night.
A nice overview of the event is online, check out:
https://limerock.com/events/historic-festival/
Thursday late afternoon the track hosts a parade open to race cars, 17
miles of beautiful New England countryside ending in a street fair in
Falls Village, a quaint little town a couple miles from the track. If
driving your race car on the street is not your thing, it is well worth
finding your way to Falls Village to take in the scene.
For the most part, we will have an All-Triumph run group. If our numbers
exceed a safe run group, we may be forced to put some cars in a more
appropriate run group, that may apply to cars on both ends of the timing
sheet. If your Triumph is prepped beyond vintage specs, your tire choice
will play a big factor on where you run. But rest assured for the main
event, all the Triumphs will together for the Kastner Cup race!
We have a practice session on Friday morning, and we qualify on Friday
afternoon. Both sessions on Saturday are races. Monday morning is our
third race, then right after lunch on Monday we run for the Kastner Cup.
Sunday is a quiet day, no race engines allowed. The track holds a huge
car show, and as the featured run group we are part of that if you want
to. More details on Sunday to follow, including a FOT get together at
the track!
You will hear me say this again as we get closer to the event, I
encourage anybody who has not run Lime Rock to take advantage of the
test day. Driving Lime Rock is a very unique experience, and while 7
turns in 1.6 miles may not sound that difficult, you will be surprised
how uncomfortable those first few sessions can be. For us mere mortals,
speed at Lime Rock comes from repetition, and many find the learning
curve pretty steep!
Even better, consider running the Empire Cup in June. Mike Harmuth will
provide the details on the Empire as we get closer to the event.
Feel free to reach out to me with any questions!
