As one who looked into glazing materials for all cars as a research project=
, I have some misgivings about Lexan or other plastics that I feel should b=
e shared:
Mainly, in an accident, sheets of Lexan or other plastic or even plain plat=
e glass (automotive glass is either tempered or laminated) could break into=
large chunks and become lethal knife-like pieces that could do real harm. =
=C2=A0Best to use laminated glass in a windshield. =C2=A0That is why the ve=
hicle makers still use it despite its weight.

Polycarbonate is so soft that the wipers will soon make seeing through it i=
mpossible.=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0 That=E2=80=99s why it=E2=80=99s is=
unsuitable for a windscreen, and toughened or laminated glass is used.=C2=
=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0 There is no way to prevent road dust getting onto the scree=
n, where the wipers will use it as an abrasive.=C2=A0 You might be able to =
use a water dispersant on the PolyC, and avoid the use of wipers, but const=
ant application will be needed!

On the surround, consider fitting it to the screen to stretch it first.=C2=
=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0 Then fit the screen/surround to the frame, using the =
same cord technique, or just take the screen out and proceed as usual.
