While better wear resistance is good, but I have had the tensioners break,=
rather than wear out.=C2=A0 The chrome plating process can cause hydrogen =
embrittlement, which would make them more likely to break.=C2=A0 Parts need=
to be baked after plating to provide hydrogen embrittlement relief.=C2=A0 =
I don't know enough about the process with spring steel to know if the baki=
ng process at about 375 deg. F will weaken the spring?=C2=A0 Joe B

 Hi,
I saw on Facebook that Tony Lindsey-Dean got a bunch of timing chain tensio=
ners hard chromed for wear resistance.
Seems like a good idea and (probably) what the factory did.
I've been a convert to cryogenic treatment for wear resistance on cams and =
tappets and=C2=A0 highly recommend the effort. But I'm curios to see if any=
one on this list has tried cryo for the timing chain tensioner...=20

Discuss.
Regards,Bob Lang
