Oh how I miss the days.=C2=A0 The June Sprints was always the biggest nati=
onal race of the year (other than The Runoffs), and Road America was one of=
my 2 favorite tracks (along with Road Atlanta).=C2=A0 I first went there i=
n 1975, when I was first getting started, and was not very competitive.=C2=
=A0 Qualified 17th in DP with a time of 3:14 & finished 7th, mostly due to =
attrition.=C2=A0 I was a bit overwhelmed by that 4 mile track.=C2=A0 Over t=
he years=C2=A0 The car (and I) improved to the point where I won my race tw=
ice, once in 1989 when Vic Skirmants wasn't there, then in 1991 beating Vic=
by a car length (or less).=C2=A0 I qualified first overall with a time of =
2:42, and had a best time during the race of 2:41, finishing first overall.
And then there were all of the weekend festivities.=C2=A0 The fans, watchin=
g the other races from various points on the track.=C2=A0 Thunder Valley, C=
anada Corner, the Hurry Downs, and, of course, Turn 5, a great passing spot=
.=C2=A0 Then off to Schwartz's Supper Club for dinner.
I know you guys who go will have a great time, and you probably have great =
memories of the track as well.=C2=A0 Everyone have a great time, whether ra=
