You didn't mention what your space limitation was, so this may not apply.
My workshop is big enough to accommodate a 2 or 4-post lift but I knew that
I'd constantly find a post to be in the way due to the way the garage is
laid out.  I opted for a 6000-lb capacity single post lift similar to the
one in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DyV_VgG_KDZg

Some low cars may have to be driven up onto 2X6 planks for the arms to slip
under but once the wheels are off the ground I can maneuver the entire rig
into a corner where it's not in the way.  I can park beneath it if I want
to build spacers but have never done this.
