As we are talking about brakes.
I bought a new rear hydraulics for the drums with a piston diameter of 3/4",
to have more bias to the rear.
I've installed that stuff and tried to fill the system with fluid when it
started leaking very badly - they were new!
I took them apart and found interesting things.
1. They are not 3/4" they are 1" in size
2. the manufactuer has forgot that rest inside the housing so that the
piston is going too deep in, with its gasket past the bores of the
connectors...that's why they leaked.
Solution:
I made on my lathe a 0.177" shim that is deep in that bore now and is the
rest for the piston.
Now it does work properly.
But I have to reset my brake adjustment as I have now very much bias to the
rear with such huge pistons.
Cheers
Chris
