Subject: GT6 cam, and my autopsy report
So... Kas.... where can we get your cam and lifters?
My machine shop (brother-in-law) started sending me some photos of my engine. 5
of the 6 pistons had the clip holding in wrist pins came out. 5 of the 6 piston
walls have a nice deep groove in the cylinder walls. The block will have to be
re-sleeved to start. Damn shame. Still, it could have been worse, nothing
BROKE...
So, with 146 drivers registered with CVAR next weekend and Eagles Canyon, I'll
tool up in our street TR6 and hold down the 6 space slot our Triumph FoT guys
have in the garage area. Steve Coleman is sponsoring a British Small Bore
special event on Saturday. Apparently the grandson of THE Healey family is one
of our special guests from England.
So.. I'm at square one with the GT6 engine. I was running high zinc oil and the
cam was already showing wear, my Ric Cline cam was paired with a set of
Iski springs and may have been too strong of a spring rate. So now I'm going to
find a new cam and springs from one source... Sources??
I'm also going to be shopping for new pistons.. if forged aren't too expensive
I
may go that route.. Sources??? If we re sleeve I can go with stock size
pistons, because the way this thing is gouged I doubt 060 over is available....
Bobby Whitehead .... nice rolling chassis setting in the garage right now....
