The fix for breaking solenoid wires is to apply silicone from a tube around
the wires to keep them from vibrating and fatiguing.
This wire breakage has occured with the Gustafson starters. Gustafson is
aware of it and suggested the silicon as a preventive measure for units used
in competition. I have one with this modification and never had a problem.
I also have one of Ted Schumacher's starters and have never experienced a
problem with it. I dont know what the differences are as I installed it
several years ago and never looked at it again.
