I'm using a 1995 F150 with a 4.9 liter straight six to pull a Spit on a 4' x 8'
single axle open trailer. The trailer is the same width wheelbase as the
truck. The truck doesn't seem to know the trailer's back there.

Lovely. Simple.

Still gets lousy gas mileage.

IMHO, a 22 foot box being towed by a mid-sized pickup/SUV is a really bad
idea. It might go OK, but stopping would probably be a nightmare.
