While doing this, make sure you use the correct throw out bearing
collar for the pressure plate you are using. I would either have my TR3
flywheel re-drilled to take a late TR4A pressure plate or just get a used
late TR4A flywheel and swap them. This way you can use the TR4A/TR6 pressure
plate and clutch. If you do this, you MUST use the TR4A/TR6 TOB and collar.
It is a lighter and cheaper assembly. And by going lighter, you will
actually gain some rear wheel horsepower. Some tests (in Speedway
Illustrated) show as much as 1 horsepower gained per pound removed from the
clutch/flywheel! Also, you should cross drill the TOB fork with a 1/4"
drill and insert a 1/4" bolt in it to reinforce the original tapered pin.
Good luck removing the rest of the bearing from your 1st motion shaft. It is
a PITA! Barry
