It could be nothing. Then again, when I rebuilt my first A series,
I ended up with a small head gasket leak between #2 and #3 (a
common problem), which meant that I was pumping some raw mixture into
the exhaust. Made a very pretty color on the ceramic coated 
exhaust manifold...
