Funny stories! Reminds me of when I was about 8 or 9 and my dad and I drove
from Canada (where we were living at the time) to Charleston, WV (where we
had moved from and my birthplace) to pick up his Ferrari 250GTE he had stored
down there in someone's yard. I remember it being night time and my dad and
his friend were opening the hood in the front yard under a trouble light to see
if the car would start. We all jumped when a racket sounded as the hood
was opened -- the squirrels had been storing their nuts in the hood insulating
blanket and they all fell out as the hood was moved.
Also, I went to look at a TR6 for sale near Conroe, TX this spring. It was in
outside covered storage for 10 years and when I opened the bonnet, the
WHOLE engine cavity was packed full to the brim with leaves, twigs, old rags
chewed into felt, and other stuff. There was a nice round cavity over the
driver's firewall area where the possum who turned the engine area into an
apartment spent his days sleeping! I couldn't even get the stuff pulled up to
see the engine -- it was packed in there so tightly. I took a pic of it since
I had never seen something like that before!
Those funny critters!
(And speaking of critters -- I was coming back from Home Depot tonight with
some fittings for the motor home drain and almost stepped on a huge snake on
the front doormat of the shop! It was dark and we have not put a light up
there yet -- guess what our very next priority is! It appeared to be about a
5-foot-long gopher snake, and as I backed up to let him go off, I almost
stepped on a little bitty one. For Gosh Snakes!)
Hope ya'll's day was less adrenaline-producing (unless you were racing),
Susan :)
