there is a thing in drag racing called "breakaway" ratio. this is the
multiple of the 1st gear times the diff ratio. ideally in the 11 - 13:1
neighborhood. not much use for leaving the line in road racing but the
theory still applies when looking at what types of corners ar ethe most
predominant on the course you are runnning. remember, any speed you carry
leaving a corner is caried down the entire straight. so if you are 3 mph
faster than a competitor leaving the turn, he has to make up the 3 mph then
any additonal speed before he can pass. ted

For those of you who really want to scream off the starting line there is a
possiblity that the Mayflower 5.38:1 (Andy Mace should be able to confirm this
ratio) gears will bolt onto the TR2/4 carriers.
:)
Of course you could also pull stumps with this setup also...
As yet I haven't had time to pursue this but one of these days I'll pull apart
my spare Mayflower diff and see whats what.....
