If you won't take it to a specialist, You can try electroplating yourself. Not
for everyone, have'nt tried it myself on these parts but have done it on other
parts. First take the parts apart, then clean them, lightly sand if necessary
to get a satin finish. Then use a tin-zinc electroplating kit to apply the
finish, and then polish with a metal polish compound. when done, it looks like
chrome. Eastwood sells these kits.
