Larry:

Because the vacuum line needs to cross over the motor to get to the
carbs, I attached a short piece of rubber hose to the dizzy, then ran
some small diameter copper tubing - I think it was the stuff they use
for gas heater pilot lights - along the same path the brake lines take
along the firewall. Then I attached another piece of rubber tubing from
that to the carb. It also keeps the line out of the way if you have to
pull the engine. Don't ask me how I know this.

I don't think the really small diameter hose comes in too many sizes.
You could get a couple different ones since you only need a foot or two
on either side with this method.
