I don't know about a riveted surface, but Tilton flywheels have an insert
that is bolted to the flywheel and can be replaced.
I had a flywheel that had a sprayed friction surface on it once. Lasted
about a year, but boy was that a fun year! Flywheel weighed 6 lbs.
