Let's do it again! The 2006 edition of the Hill Country Swap Meet is July
28-30 http://tinyurl.com/n94fv, at Lady Bird Johnson Park on TX 16, next to
the airport south of Fredericksburg.
Typical of other outdoor meets there are a lot of very nice cars, a ton of
(mostly domestic) parts, etc., and yes, probably quite a bit of junk, too.
But it's all fun, and in a very nice setting. The Park is very nice with
rolling hills covered with grass and lots of trees, plus Live Oak Creek
wanders through the Park, keeping the temps reasonable in the Texas July
heat and we9ll have a large canopy to help (a little) with the July sun.
Coincidently, for the non car nut (err.., auto enthusiast) family members,
the Medina Apple Festival also takes place that weekend, in Medina, south of
Kerrville, about 40 minutes south of Fredericksburg and there are plenty of
great hotels, motels, B&Bs and RV parks in the Kerrville/Fredericksburg area
I thought it would be a good idea to gauge the interest before I contact the
organizers about a Datsun Corral again on Saturday, so spread the word and
have folks send me a note at this address or <ronnie.day@gmail.com>,
preferably before mid-May.
When we did this a couple of years ago we had a dozen or so roadsters and an
LS1 powered 1 gen Z-car. It would be great if we had 20 to 30 cars including
Roadsters, 510s and Z-Cars. Early Saturday evening we had a great meal at
Mamacita's, which we could repeat or take advantage of the wide variety of
other excellent restaurants and cafes in town.
So talk it up and let me know. Pass this on to anyone you think might be
interested.
