Jim,
Motorsportseats.com (Jim Huston) offers many brands and versions of
harnesses and offers competitive pricing, too. I probably will go with one
of the Schroth inertial five belt style in the roadster. They're a bit pricy
at around $225/each but do show up on eBay occasionally. Other styles and
brands are cheaper, but AFAIK Schroth are the only harnesses like this that
are DoT approved, so an insurance company could hang you out to dry if you
had to file a claim. Might be a big deal, might not. YMMV. I like the idea
of having the shoulder harness on an inertial system. Anyway, Motorsport
Seats is a great place to research what you're looking for.
As far as mounting the shoulder harnesses on the wheel well, I'm not sure
that's the best place, unless you use the OEM three point style. I'm
planning on putting the largest pieces of flat plate I can on the forward
wall of the trunk directly in line with the centerline of the seats and
bolting the shoulder harness mounts through these. I pulled the roll bar to
regain the extra rearward seat travel and would have had to have a
horizontal harness bar added if I'd wanted to attach the shoulder harnesses
to it anyway.
Of course the harnesses won't do us a damned bit of good until I get the car
going again. Did get a little done this afternoon. If the forecast rain
holds off until later on Sunday I might get more accomplished.
