The knurled (non-threaded) portion of the stud is 3/16". Using my dremel
and a cut-off wheel, I cut off a small portion of the head and was able
to pound and pull (with a standard acorn lugnut) the stud into place on
my front hubs.  The fronts will be easy on this car (drum brakes all
around) because the front hub comes off with nothing behind it.  The
rears will be more fun, probably require me to remove the rear axle
shafts and drill a hole in the backing plate, but it  should be doable.

The stud is Dorman p/n 610-157.  7/16-20 (like stock), 3/16" of .472"
knurl (ribbed, not solid like stock studs) with a round (and rounded
top) head and 2 1/8" long (knurl plus threads).  Kragen's
(Checker/Schuck's) can't order them (not sure why) and AutoZone doesn't
carry Dorman, but Southern Auto (CarQuest) says they'll have them by
noon today.

Oh, and Wheel Components sent me 20 new 5302 lugnuts (warranty
replacement) so I've got a few spares now. :-)

Semi-related question - why is nothing as easy as it should be?
