Vehicle Description
1964 SPL-310 Fairlady 1500 - 3 Seater Model
Up for sale is a very special 1964 Datsun Fairlady 1500. It's quite rare to
find an early model Fairlady 1500, but even more rare to find such a nicely
preserved & complete example.
This is the 3 seater model, which has two forward facing seats , and a small
sideways 3rd jump seat in the rear. This unique roadster has many original
features, not found in the later roadsters: Key Hole Protectors, External
trunk hinges, Large trunk handle, Metal Dash (w/ early gauges), 1500 grill
and wood framed front convertible bow.
Vehicle Condition
This car has been upgraded to a R16 engine with a polished valve cover along
with the original 4spd transmission. The engine starts and runs very nice.
The braking system has been completely redone and is in excellent condition.
The original points system has been upgraded to an electronic ignition. This
car is a complete blast to drive around town and receives many thumbs-ups &
compliments when driving.
During the past 2+ years much effort has been taken in rejuvenating this
amazing car. All of the work done to the car has been performed by
professional shops.

* Tuned up with new Oil Filter and Air Filter.
* New White Wall Tires (<50 miles) with Front End Alignment. Front end is in
good condition, but the steering box will eventually need repair. A good
replacement steering box is included.

* Complete New Full Brake System (6 wheel cylinders, hoses, shoes, drum,
springs, master) - Brake Parts Alone Cost ~ $1000
* New Clutch Hydraulics (Master/Slave/Hose)
* New Fuel Pump, Fuel Filter, Fuel Lines
* New Exhaust System
* All Electrical gone through, including new light bulbs
* All Original Side Trim
* Original Emblems
* Straight Body with 3rd seat frame
* Original soft top frame (wood)
This is a Southern California Car and is very dry. The glass (windshield,
side windows) is in good condition without any major scratches, or defects.
The paint on the car is probably 20 years old and in fair condition. The car
would benefit from a respray in the future. The body is in quite good
condition, but has several scratches, scuffs and paint chips. The upper edge
of the trunk deck does need some minor repair from an previous owner who
tried to shut the trunk without releasing the trunk holder latch.
The chrome trim (Grill, Bumpers, etc) is very complete and in original
condition. The side trim and emblems are in nice condition. The carpet is
black, also in good condition. The car has been previously wired for an
upgraded stereo, and the speaker holes behind the rear seats are ready for
6x9 speakers. The car comes with the 3rd seat frame, but it needs to be
re-upholstered & installed. The vehicle also includes a soft top frame , but
needs a soft top.
This is a great car for cruising around the neighborhood in! Due to
logistical issues (the car is stored in San Diego, but I live 500 miles away
in San Francisco) I haven't yet taken her on any long trips. With some final
cosmetics, this car can be a show winner at Shasta or Solvang.
