I've known about it for a long time and spoke with some of the chemists who
helped develope it while they were racing a Pantera at Lime Rock several
years ago.
It's a great product, however, to be used in a factory cooling system
certain changes need to be made to have the coolant and cooling system be
its most efficient.. A rad with bigger tubing and greater flow is
recommended and a higher output waterpump is also recommended.
Evans has a higher specific gravity than normal coolant and is harder to
pump as there is no water at all in the coolant. The premise is that since
there is no water, no steam or steam pockets are created, and it is the
localised steam pockets that warp heads and engines.
A higher coolant temperature is also a byproduct of using Evans since Evans
doesn't transfer as much heat as normal coolant, but higher temps doesn't
mean the engine is overheating. The Pantera they raced used a high temp
thermostat and they said that during a race the Pantera frequently saw
running temps of 280* with no ill effects.
Certain filling procedures must also be followed to get rid of any water in
the cooling system.
I was impressed by Evans but never got around to buying it.
