Sid,

I have a set of Weber DCOE 40's on my early 1600; same problem.....no
clearance for any standard type air cleaner.

I am using K&N individual filters; part number RU-1030. They are cylindrical
with a rubber end that fits over the air horns and attaches with a hose
clamp. The filter part is 4 1/2" long and the rubber part is about 1" long.
The neat thing is that they are offset at a 10 degree angle, so you can
rotate them around to clear the master cylinders, fuse box and relays. They
pretty much all end up pointing different ways, but they do clear everything
but the horn relay, which I had to move a little.

Mine were a real bear to get on, and I bent them up a bit (well, more than a
bit) getting them on, but I was successful, and now have the peace of mind of
having good air filters and that famous K&N flow.

I don't have any pix yet, but I'll try to take some this week and send them
to you if you want. Let me know.......
