I pulled my oil pump tonight, took it apart, and cleaned it up. what should I
look for as far as wear and tear is concerned? the gears look good and my
screen is intact. there is a cotter pin holding what appears to be a bronze
bushing in the body of the pump. should I pull this out? what is it for? there
was a gasket between the oil pump and the block. is there supposed to be one
between the oil pump body and the part that the screen bolts too? I was
planning on rotating the pump until it seated during its reinstallation. Can I
pull the dizzy, mark its location, and then use a screw driver to turn the
pump by way of the gear in the dizzy mount to get oil into it? I hope this
made sense!
thx,
mike
