Just put up a scan of a ratchet type spring compressor in use
http://home.neo.rr.com/mark2000/images/valve_spring.jpg - pic is of a SBC,
but applies just the same.
Using a compressor, and a glob of grease on the retainers is the most
painless way to do it.
