Thomas,

Don't get me started on managed ISP's (Internet Service Providers). These
include AOL and
MSN as the largest offenders. It amazes me how an ISP can make decisions about
what your web
experience should, or should not be, give very poor to unqualified technical
support, and
still survive.

I was on MSN (forced move by my changes dictated by my ISP at the time) for all
of 10 minutes
when I realized that this was WAY wrong for me. I expect to USE the Internet.
Not be told
what software to read my mail with, where I can, and cannot go, and what
software to use for
newsgroups.

I do tech support related to connecting high speed voice, data, and voice
connections to the
telephone companies (and unlike those kids you speak of, I don't use scripts, I
use
experience) and I could not get to AT&T fast enough, even though they were in
the middle of a
whole system crash at the same time, they were, and are, in my opinion, still
way, way better
than MSN.
