Would hardening make them less pliable (more brittle)? I thought all the
list discussions centered more around the length of the chain and
tensioners. Larry.

Subject: Hardening Timing Gears?

All,

After the king's ransome I paid for my U20 timing set I am looking at ways
to protect my investment. One list member recommended that I get my timing
set gears hardened by a machine shop. Is this the same as tempering? He said

it would be the last set of timing gears I ever needed.

What is involved? Thoughts?
