The weather worked it's magic on us one more time this weekend. Pam and I
hopped in the beast and after picking up Jon Frampton in his red 67, we took
a little run to the Chino Air Museum. We decided to stay off the freeway as
much as possible for the way out, since neither Jon or I like driving our
roadsters on the freeway for any length of time. This gave us the
opportunity to head down Harbor Boulevard past Disneyland, along Imperial
Highway, then over Carbon Canyon Road to Chino. The ride over Carbon Canyon
is very nice, with beautiful scenery and some nice twisties.

About a mile from Chino Airport we picked up a Volvo sedan, who seemed to
speed up and slow down as we did. When we finally got to the air museum and
stopped for a photo op in front of a B17 bomber out front, the Volvo pulled
in behind us and we found out the driver was fellow roadster owner from
Seattle! Small world.

We took a short tour through the air museum. If you are the least interested
in aircraft and are in the area, I highly recommend this place. They have a
wonderful collection of vintage prop and jet aircraft, including the only
flying Mitsubishi Zero fighter outside of Japan and a prototype Northrop
flying wing from the 50s!

After lunch at a local restaurant, we headed back down to the Riverside
freeway and home. An altogether fun Sunday drive. What more could I have
asked for? I had Pam beside me, my friend Jon on my wing, sunny California
weather, top down driving on a great road and vintage airplanes all on the
same day! Don't know about you, but I need a nap :)

I posted a few pics on our Picturetrail site below under 'Roadster Runs', in
the hope that it may spur some interest in a future SoCalROC run. Enjoy!
