"I think that went well......." <G>
Happy to report that the Chandler Christmas Parade was a success. A big
thanks to all who participated. Everyone had awsome lights/decorations - even
braving 35 y/o electrical systems just to add to the Christmas spirit. I'm
sure the folks at the City of Chandler will be happy to have us back next
year - apparently we were the first car-club to participate in their annual
parade.
We met up around 4:30 - some cars were already deocrated, some did a quick
transormation right there in the parking lot. The only troubles were after
the parade on the way to the pizza place w/ one Roadster's battery giving out
and a 280ZX that "lost it's presents". Prolly wouldn't have happened - but
we decided to caravan in "full dress" after the parade as well.
We all got to exercise our "parade wave" to the 10,000+ crowd. I'ts still
amazing to see the looks on the little kids' (and the big ones too!) faces
with out little cars scootin' on by. Getting the "thumbs-up" from a 10 y/o is
somehow a most gratifying experience.
In the line-up we had:
4 roadsters: ( Linda & Bob, Jim & Kathy W, Chris & Agnes D. & ME w/ kids &
Mark)
1 280Z - Ron & Judy H.
1 510 - Ben T. from DZA
1 280ZX - Harry from DZA ,which, BTW was the best dressed !
1 300ZX - Christa from DZA
1 Brand new Nissan Frontier from the Scottsdale dealership.
Also Steve & Valerie H, and Loren & Debra C. showed up for support - sans
cars.
Apparently we won a prize ! yeah ! LOL - the only one left that hadn't gone
to the pizza place was the guy from the Nissan/Infinity dealership... he
heard our names mentioned at the awards ceremony - I think it was for "Best
Dressed Mascot" hmmmm whatever THAT means !!! ( Coulda' been Ron's santa hat
?!?!?!?) I shall call the city, as cash prizes may have been involved.
