Yes, AFAIK, All of the L-motors have the same pattern. That was why you had
to swap the early (separate) Z 4-speed bell housing on to the roadster
5-speed trans to use it in the 510. Comp even offered a special trans cross
member and driveshaft to make it a bolt-in, particularly since the roadster
trans output is a flange, but the L-motored cars use splined yokes. I doubt
there are many of these pieces floating around, and they're not needed
anyway. Most of us use the Z-car and truck trannys. David Carroll
(Experimental Engineering) makes custom trans mounts to put these boxes into
the 510 for around $70 that are a bargain. BTW, he also offers a very nice
kit to put a VG-30 six into the 510.

I'm not sure. My Datsun experience has been primarily 510, with a bit of
Roadster and Z-Car thrown in for good measure. I doubt that they're the same
as the L-motor because in several years on the 510 list and a "few" more
than that playing with them and collecting info on them, the A series boxes
have not been mentioned as an alternative. And trust me, I'd think if it
were possible there'd be a number of folks that would have made it known.

There was a company called Crown Engineering that used to make trans
adapters, including one to connect a small block Chevy to the Corvair
transaxle. I have no idea if they're still in business.
